تاریخی روایات کے مطابق ایک دور میں مدینہ منورہ میں قحط یا مہنگائی کا دور آیا جس کی وجہ سے روٹی (غذائی اجناس) نایاب اور انتہائی مہنگی ہو گئی۔ اس مشکل ترین وقت میں جب عام عوام تکلیف میں تھی، یہ بات سامنے آئی کہ امام جعفر صادق علیہ السلام کے گھر میں تقریباً چھ مہینے کے لیے کافی اناج (گندم، جو وغیرہ) کا ذخیرہ موجود تھا۔
امامؑ کی حکمت اور عمل:
امامؑ نے فوری طور پر یہ حکم دیا کہ پورا ذخیرہ نکال کر بازار میں لے جایا جائے اور اس کی قیمت کے مطابق بیچا جائے، حالانکہ وہ اسے بہت زیادہ منافع میں (مہنگے داموں) فروخت کر سکتے تھے۔ امامؑ کا مقصد یہ نہیں تھا کہ صرف اپنا فائدہ دیکھیں، بلکہ انہوں نے معاشرے کے اجتماعی مفاد، اخلاقی ذمہ داری اور بحران کے وقت ہمدردی کا عملی مظاہرہ کیا۔ انہوں نے یہ عمل “احتکار” (ذخیرہ اندوزی) کی مذمت اور “تعاون علی البر والتقوی” (بھلائی اور پرہیزگاری پر تعاون) کے اصول کی زندہ مثال قائم کرتے ہوئے کیا۔
According to historical narratives, there came a time of famine or inflation in Madinah, causing bread (and basic food grains) to become scarce and extremely expensive. During this difficult period when the common people were suffering, it became known that the household of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) had a stored provision of grains (wheat, barley, etc.) sufficient for approximately six months.
The Wisdom and Action of the Imam (AS):
The Imam (AS) immediately ordered that the entire stock be brought out, taken to the market, and sold at the prevailing market rate, even though he could have sold it at a much higher profit (at inflated prices). The Imam’s objective was not personal gain. Instead, he demonstrated a profound lesson in social responsibility, ethical duty, and compassion during a crisis. His action was a living embodiment of the condemnation of “Ihtikar” (hoarding) and the principle of “cooperating in righteousness and piety.”
